Dark grounds
Gradient type, 9.9:1 at its lightest end.
On Almost Black the gradient can be the type itself: Yellow Orange is 9.9:1 and Tangerine is 7.0:1, so the clip is a colour decision with no contrast debt.
Source: vestra.ai (Vestra, "Your AI Agent Office", private beta), dissected 2026-09-16. The rule is the same as the adko and wisprflow rounds: every move below is built as a real Exaflair section, in Montserrat, on white and Almost Black grounds, with orange as a surface. Under each one a plate says what the move is, where it came from, and what changed. Numbered so you can point at them.
vestra is the most art-directed of the three references: a watercolour office painted for the hero, five type families, gold everywhere, and every product section built as a scroll-driven stage with a ghost word behind it. The parts worth keeping are the ones that survive contact with Exaflair's contrast floor and Bhavya's "a tad less motion". The rest is listed under "Left on the table".
Move 1 Atmosphere and the field
Product engineering studio
Product minds, AI-boosted builders and systems that scale, without the overheads. One named team, working software every week, and an estimate attached to a prototype.
Powered by intelligence, driven by flair.
Teams of two to twelve. Weekly demos. Fixed-price discovery.
Move 2 The word is the colour moment
One colour rule, two grounds
Dark grounds
On Almost Black the gradient can be the type itself: Yellow Orange is 9.9:1 and Tangerine is 7.0:1, so the clip is a colour decision with no contrast debt.
Light grounds
On white the gradient becomes a surface and the word sits on it in Almost Black. Same colour, same emphasis, and the text keeps 7.0:1 across the whole swash.
Move 3 The chapter bar
A repeating divider
Move 4 Ghost word, sticky stage
How a build moves
Discovery is fixed price. We map the product with your team on a shared board, cut it to a first slice, and write the estimate against that slice. You keep the board either way.
The proposal is a prototype you can click, with the numbers next to it. Arguing from a screen is faster than arguing from a slide, and it exposes the hard part early.
Every Friday there is a demo of running software, not a status report. Scope moves in slices you can see, so the plan and the product never drift apart.
The repository, the infrastructure and the docs sit in your organisation from the first commit. We stay on a short retainer while your team takes the wheel.
Move 5 Two forces, one practice
Exa and Flair
Teams of two to twelve, named before the first call, working inside your repositories with AI workflows carrying the scaffolding, the tests and the review. The point of the scale is that a small team ships more of the week.
The interface, the system, the details a user feels. Finesse is not decoration: it is the difference between software that satisfies a brief and software the client's users keep using.

A client should be able to check the work, not take our word for it. The log above is the shape of a Friday: tests green, a bundle inside budget, a slice deployed. Screenshots and numbers convince better than B-roll, and they cost nothing on a data plan.
Move 7 The fan of capabilities
What we plug in
Left on the table Not translated
Each item is a real strength or habit of the source. It stays there because it conflicts with a brand rule, a taste note, or the craft floor the playbook already enforces.
Ten painted grounds and backgrounds, plus eight engraved ability illustrations, carry every section. The adko round already decided that Exaflair shows the work, not B-roll or art: screenshots, diagrams and numbers convince better, and the kit's imagery is dark photography, not paint.
A warm paper page with gold rules is beautiful and Sri Pardhiv already rejected cream as "brown" in round 3. Exaflair grounds stay white and #F1F1F1 in light, Almost Black in dark.
Every eyebrow, state tag and data label on the page is gold and below AA. Here eyebrows are --text-muted (6.7:1) on light and Yellow Orange (9.9:1) inside the dark window.
Typewriter headlines, beats that advance on their own with a pause button, and a scrub. Bhavya's note is "a tad less than cursor-driven"; here the reader's scroll lights the step and nothing moves on its own.
prefers-reduced-motion 28 animations still running; 15 of 17 beat words stay at opacity 0Reduced motion collapses the sticky stages from 11,837 px to 8,286 px and leaves the intermediate beats at opacity: 0.001. Exaflair keeps the rule instead: every step carries its own complete card when motion is off.
The brand is Montserrat only. The high-contrast display/body split is reproduced with weight, and --font-mono from tokens is used only for data readouts inside the window.
adko and wisprflow both had wordmark sign-offs and PR #7 dropped it on Bhavya's note. Two references for, one client decision against: left out unless he re-raises it.
Surface texture over a hairline system adds payload and fights the 1 px rules. The one atmospheric element kept is the static radial glow in the hero.
Exaflair's playbook already requires alt on every meaningful image, 44 px targets and 16 px UI text; this page is checked against all three.
Contradicts adko, wisprflow and Bhavya's notes
vestra is paper and gold end to end. Sri's "no brown" note and the brand's dark-dominant default still stand. Sri and the kit win; the paper warmth survives only as the hero glow.
adko, wisprflow and vestra all build set pieces; Bhavya has now asked for less twice. Bhavya wins: sticky plus class swaps, one reveal step, and complete static fallbacks.
vestra runs gilded words, gold tags, gilded badges, gold icons and gold buttons on most screens. The budget stays at two to three orange moments per viewport, with the gradient reserved for one word and one surface per chapter.
This is the one place vestra's craft is below Exaflair's floor, on nearly every screen. The floor wins, and it costs nothing: the same labels work in grey on light and yellow on dark.
vestra's display sizes sit in the editorial range Bhavya picked over wordmark scale, so the type scale agrees; only the family changes. Montserrat 800 at clamp(), sentence case, one coloured word.
vestra's mix is deliberate art direction and reads well. Montserrat only stands; the mono in the window is the token the kit already ships.
Paper light, no dark theme at all, no prefers-color-scheme block. Exaflair ships both themes on every page; the hero's dark ground is deliberately dark in both.
A third reference with a giant sign-off, and the third time it loses to PR #7. Left out; the footer keeps the brand line, two link columns and the legal bar.
